Do You Dream of Being a Work At Home Mom?

So in May of 2004, my beautiful daughter was born, and I gave up my seven-year teaching career to be at home. It was scary, because I didn't know if we could live solely on my husband's salary, but we were willing to make sacrifices so that I could take care of her full-time.

In the meantime, I read a lot about different work at home opportunities and tried to figure out what I could do that would allow me to have a flexible schedule and bring in some extra money. I did a little supply teaching and some contract work at home for the government, but I wasn't satisfied with that. I was looking for more control over the times I worked and for the chance to do something I really enjoyed.

When I was pregnant with my twin boys in 2004, my father came to me with a great idea, although I wasn't sure it was so great at the time. He suggested I build a website from home using a service called Site Build It! (SBI!) that was being offered by a company called SiteSell.

It seemed like a wonderful idea, so I went to their website and read about their service. I also read many of the case studies of real people who began online businesses and thrived. It seemed like a way to have the freedom and financial rewards I was seeking, so, after a lot of research and careful consideration, I took the leap in July of 2005.

I found a subject I knew something about and that I thought could be profitable - baby strollers - and began my website. I've always liked doing research and writing to inform, so that part was easy for me. Having no previous experience in building a website, I was worried that I might find the technical stuff daunting, but it was explained so clearly and the software is so user-friendly, that it ended up being a piece of cake!

Let me be very clear:building a website isn't for everyone, and not everyone who does it succeeds. Don't listen to those Internet marketers who say you can get rich quick with a website with little effort, because it isn't true! It took a lot of hard work and persistence for me to begin making a 4 figure income online, but I'm so glad I stuck with it!

What I've most appreciated about having my own online business is that I can leave it alone for long periods of time to take care of personal matters, and it will continue to bring in an income. What a gift! And best of all, I can increase my income by adding content to my website and by driving more and more traffic to it using the strategies outlined on the Site Build It! website. The forum is also a great help, with lots of people taking the time to help out those who have questions about building their businesses. A lot of people love how SBI! has changed their lives.

All in all, I have to say that this opportunity has been a dream come true. I've been a work at home mom since 2005, and the experience of building an online business of my very own has been wonderful!

It is my dream to build several online businesses so that I can continue to work from home and have the time freedom to be with my family and the financial freedom to do what I want to do, when I want to do it. I wish this for you, too.
