Eat Stop Eat

A Simple Path to Long-Term Weight Loss

Did you know that 80% of weight loss (or really, fat loss) is diet, and only 20% exercise? I was shocked to learn this! We're constantly encouraged to begin time-consuming exercise routines that take a lot of energy and effort - and aren't always pleasant - yet they burn a very small amount of calories in the big picture! Controlling your calorie intake is the only way to achieve considerable and lasting fat loss!

I've been pregnant twice, the first time with my daughter and the second time with my twin boys, so I know what it's like to gain pregnancy weight and want to take it off! It's been a struggle for me to lose those last 15 pounds, and I've tried out different diets and exercise programs for several years without much luck.

However, I finally found a program that has worked and that is really easy to do. It's called Eat Stop Eat, and it is wonderful! It was designed by Brad Pilon, a man who has an honors degree in nutrition and who has worked in research and development for the weight loss supplement industry. He is also an avid body-builder.

Eat Stop Eat is a program of flexible intermittent fasting, not calorie restriction. It so simple (no counting points or calories), and you can eat whatever you want for 5 or 6 days a week, within reason, of course!

This program does encourage some exercise, but not hours of boring and useless cardio. Did you know that cardiovascular exercise doesn't burn a great amount of calories for all that effort? Yes, it is good to do some cardio for the other health benefits it brings, but burning calories shouldn't be your main goal for doing it. Pilon only recommends doing strength training once or twice a week to maintain and build muscle tissue, which burns lots of calories 24/7, making fat loss even faster!

If intermittent fasting seems too much of a hardship for you, you might want to read about the No S Diet , which I follow on the days I'm not fasting. I actually was following this way of eating for a couple of months before I came upon Eat Stop Eat, and it actually made the intermittent fasting easier, since I got out of the habit of eating many times during the day.

Good luck with whichever weight loss method you choose to follow!
